Features of AATCC Grey Scale:
  1. The AATCC Gray Scales for Color Change and Gray Scale for Staining are the fundamental evaluation tools when assessing colorfastness of textile materials.
  2. Using AATCC EP1 and EP2, textile testing professionals use the AATCC Gray Scales to assess how fabrics that have been washed, exposed to temperature, light, and storage conditions maintain their color, and even stain onto other materials.
  3. The AATCC Gray Scales are valuable tools for textile colorfastness testing as it aids textile product developers and companies in various industries to determine whether to use a fabric for a specific application.
  4. Gray Scale for Staining is used in colorfastness tests for evaluating staining on undyed textiles. The scale consists of pairs of nominally white and gray color chips each representing a difference in color or contrast (shade and strength) corresponding to a numerical grade for staining.
  5. Fastness grades 4.5 to 1, inclusive, are represented by a reference white chip identical with those used for grade 5 paired with similar but neutral gray chips.
  6. Gray Scale for Color Change is used in visual evaluation of the changes in color of textiles resulting from colorfastness tests.
  7. Colorfastness grades 4.5 to 1, inclusive, are represented by reference chips like those used in Step 5 paired with lighter neutral gray chips of similar dimensions and gloss.
